Jordan is tied up in a chokehold so #TeamJC is tapping out this week. #TeamLynch is riding solo on the keyboard for this UFC 160 edition of the Takedown. Many questions linger ahead of Saturday nights anticipated event. Will favorites such as Cain Velasquez and Junior Dos Santos come through? Can T.J Grant pull off the upset against Gray Maynard? Will K.J. Noons make a successful UFC debut? Lets break this down. Cain Velasquez vs. Antonio "Bigfoot" Silva (Heavyweight title bout) James Lynch, TSN.ca (@LynchOnSports): In a rematch of their UFC 146 bout nearly a year ago, the 6-foot-4 Brazilian eyes revenge against the current UFC heavyweight champion. Prior to UFC 156, it was almost certain former Strikeforce heavyweight champion Alistair Overeem would be facing Velasquez this Saturday night. Instead the Dutchman suffered a third round knockout loss to the ATT product, in what was a considerable upset. The 33-year old hopes back-to-back knockout wins over Travis Browne and the "Reem" will give him the confidence to dethrone the San Jose native. Meanwhile Velasquez makes his first title defence since claiming the title in a dominating victory over Junior Dos Santos at UFC 155. Aside from the one blemish on his record against Dos Santos at UFC on FOX 1, the 30-year old Velasquez has looked unstoppable at heavyweight. With a win already over Silva just a year ago and the fact his teammate Daniel Cormier has also knocked out Bigfoot, Velasquez has a considerable advantage heading into this fight. With that said, the former NCAA Division I wrestler should use his superior conditioning and exceptional standup skills to knockout the Brazilian sometime in the second round. Velasquez via second round TKO Junior Dos Santos vs. Mark HuntThe New Zealand native has the opportunity of a lifetime as he looks to upset the former UFC heavyweight champion this Saturday night. Playing the role of a modern day Rocky Balboa, Hunt has surprised many pundits amassing a five-fight win streak after losing six straight prior to joining the UFC. His "Average Joe" physique and most recent knockout victories over Cheick Kongo and Stefan Struve have made him a fan favorite. His opponent, the 29-year old Brazilian jiu-jitsu blackbelt looks to get back on the winning track after losing his belt back at UFC 155. While 39-year old Hunt does have a punchers chance in this fight, he wont have the cardio or the exceptional ground game of the Team Nogueira product. This fight should play out similar to Dos Santos vs. Roy Nelson at UFC 117, where the Brazilian used his height and reach advantage over three rounds to batter his opponent. Because of Hunts cardio issues its likely Dos Santos will finish Hunt sometime in the third round.Dos Santos via third round TKO James Te Huna vs. Glover Teixeira In a matchup that could easily produce "Fight of the Night" honors (with 22 knockout victories between the two of them) the Brazilian Teixeira clashes with the New Zelander Te Huna. The “Pit” fighter Teixeira has some of the best boxing in the division, which he displayed in his last fight outpointing former UFC light heavyweight champion Quinton “Rampage” Jackson over three rounds. The 33-year old is currently riding a 17-fight win streak which dates back to a May 2005 loss to Ed Herman. His opponent, the 31-year old Athletics All-stars pupil is currently 5-1 inside the octagon, with wins over former MFC light heavyweight champion Ryan Jimmo and Igor Pokrajac. The question is, will the Brazilian jiu-jitsu blackbelt Teixeira keep this fight standing and test the chin of his opponent? Or will he capitalize on Te Hunas weakness and fish for a submission? (Four of Te Hunas five losses have come by way of submission). Either way, Teixeira should have a slight edge in the standup and a considerable advantage on the ground which doesnt bode well for Te Huna. Teixeira via unanimous decision T.J Grant vs. Gray Maynard The Cole Harbour, Nova Scotia native Grant aims to become the first Canadian in UFC history to earn a lightweight title shot if he can upset the TUF 5 contestant. Since his drop to lightweight, the Canadian has quietly gone on a four-fight win streak with impressive victories over Shane Roller, Evan Dunham and most recently Matt Wiman at UFC on FOX 6. Maynard meanwhile is coming off a very lackluster win (not on his own accord) over Clay Guida, in which his opponent literally ran away from every exchange. The former NCAA Division I wrestlers nickname is the “Bully” but in this fight it will be the other way around as Grant has both the height and reach advantage. Both fighters are extremely versatile with the AKA member having the wrestling advantage and Grant having the edge on the ground. One factor worth nothing is the 34-year old Maynard has only fought four times in the last three years due to injuries, while Grant has been very active. Canadian bias aside, the 29-year old has a huge opportunity Saturday night and its very possible he can pull through with the win. Grant via unanimous decision Donald Cerrone vs. K.J. Noons Looking to bounce back from his devastating loss to Anthony Pettis, the former WEC title challenger Cerrone looks to make a statement by taking out the Strikeforce import Noons. While this should be an entertaining fight, “Cowboy” has the edge in all facets of the fight both in the standup and on the mat. The former Elite XC lightweight champion will try to make this competitive, but will ultimately come up short over three rounds. Cerrone via unanimous decision Undercard Picks: Pyle, Bermudez, Smith, Nurmagomedov, Thompson, Bowles, Stephens Agree or Disagree? Isner, ranked No. 14, won his eighth career singles title and took the title in New Zealand for the second time after his victory in 2010. The match was similar to Isners quarterfinal victory over fifth-seeded Philipp Kohlschreiber which went to three sets, all tiebreaks and contained no breaks of serve. Diego Castillo Jersey . Hey Kerry, big fan of yours, just finished reading your book. I think that we all saw the Canucks/Flames line brawl just after puck drop. It was obvious that something was about to happen, even to the referees because the fourth lines were on to start. Tampa Bay Rays Shirts . Jon Montgomerys gold medal in skeleton at the Whistler Sliding Centre and his subsequent auctioning off of a pitcher of beer in the village square elevated him to folk-hero status. Charlie Morton Jersey . -- The Missouri Tigers might not have a roster full of superstars. As a former dancer, Ive always tried to imagine which sport ballet might be comparable to, and the most I have been able to come up with is the marathon -- if the marathon required runners to be in character, with full makeup and smiling the entire time. Oh, and en pointe. And by en pointe, I dont mean perfect in the sense that my teenagers use the phrase today. Nope, by en pointe, I mean it in the true French sense of the word -- standing on the tips of your toes, separated from the floor by the tiniest barrier of fabric, cardboard and glue. Those pink, satiny pointe shoes -- and hours upon hours of blood, sweat and tears -- are what separate the women in Thursday night Zumba class from athletes like American Ballet Theatres Misty Copeland.?Anyone can go to a sporting goods store and buy Nike Zoom Lebron Soldier 10s sneakers, and anyone go online and buy Capezio Aria pointe shoes. And that is exactly what Vogue Espana did for a fashion shoot with Kendall Jenner. But owning Lebrons sneakers wont make you an NBA player. And neither will pointe shoes -- voila! -- magically transform you into Wendy Whelan.Reality-star-turned-model Kendall Jenner is a beautiful young woman. At 5-feet-10? and 119 pounds, the 20-year-old slides into haute couture with ease and is an accomplished runway model. And no one could call her modeling skills into question. But those feet! They are like dead fish. They are. Look at them in the Vogue shoot. They just dangle there. In ballet, there is a term for this: the sickled foot, and the dreaded dead fish comment is something ballet teachers say to their students to remind them to point, point, point their feet.Dancers oftentimes resort to medieval torture devices to improve their arches. Dont believe me? Google ballet feet stretcher. Ill wait. I have friends who short-sheet their beds and wedge their pointed feet tight between two sheets and sleep that way to improve their arches. Instagram, which has proved to be the perfect forum for ballet photos, has sparked a whole new movement in dance and is flush with photos and videos of dancers and their footwork. My favorite is Cuban ballerina?Dayesi Torriente Llanes, now a soloist with the Pennsylvania Ballet. ?I have seen entire ballet auditions go south based on the look of feet alone. I swear my mother, who studied under George Balanchine (he co-founded the New York City Ballet) at the School of American Ballet and danced with the San Francisco and Pennsylvania Ballet companies, worked at pointing my feet while I was still in my crib.dddddddddddd So poor Jenner and her dead-fish feet incurred the wrath of every ballerina from the Bolshoi Theatre in Moscow?to the Pacific Northwest Ballet in Seattle last week. She had to turn off the comments on her Instagram feed, and her vastly popular account (she has 66.3 million followers) is part of what made her so attractive to Vogue in the first place. Dance Magazine had Ballet West soloist Allison DeBona write an opinion piece about Jenners unfortunate attempt to stand up in pointe shoes after DeBonas Facebook post reacting to the Vogue Espana?photos went viral.DeBona, herself a stunning dancer, had just recently written her heartfelt Facebook commentary?faulting Vogue for exploiting Jenner by posing her as a ballerina. She noted:Ballerinas across the globe are upset that Vogue Spain hired Kendell (sic) Jenner to look like a ballerina in a video shoot. Well, Vogue Italia hired me to look like a ballerina in a video shoot. Some people originally commented on my video about how I was selling out by being too sexual. I was playing a role just like Kendell, except I have technique. There were plenty of comments from dancers who felt that Vogue Espana?should have used a real ballerina and had no business putting Jenner in pointe shoes and having her dance around suggestively in leotards and leg warmers. I agree. The publication is usually pretty good with the ballet accuracy, but shame on them and shame on Jenners modeling agent, whomever that might be, for not trying harder for authenticity. There were a million ways around it: Use a real ballerina for the action and then pose Jenner in the clothes. Or just pick another theme entirely -- such as horseback riding, ATVing, dirt biking, surfing or hiking, which Jenner herself recently listed as her hobbies. One thing I know for sure. Jenners unwitting participation in the ballet shoot fiasco of 2016 legitimizes the dance, if anything, because it once again shows haters that ballet is not just running around like a child just not caring. It is impossibly hard work. Kendall Jenner might have more money and fame than God, but shes not a ballerina. ?ESPN deputy editor Gabrielle Paese is a reformed ballerina who got her start with Maria Vegh at Harkness Ballet. She went on to attend the Pennsylvania Governors School for the Arts and train under the late Merce Cunningham. ? ' ' '
