(STATS) -- A season-ending injury to starting quarterback Kyle Lauletta last week hasnt quite left Richmonds offense short-handed.As expected, Richmond relied on defense and special teams to post a 39-10 win over visiting North Carolina A&T in the first round of the FCS playoffs, but the Spiders also got a huge performance from sophomore quarterback Kevin Johnson in his first career start at Robins Stadium. The Spiders (9-3) advanced to play at No. 7 seed North Dakota (9-2) next Saturday.I cant say enough about how proud I am of this team and the way they stepped up this week, showing true toughness and resiliency, said coach Danny Rocco, whose team has had 12 season-ending injuries, including to eight starters. This has not been the easiest year and sit here with nine wins, a third straight year with a playoff win and another opportunity against a tremendous opponent next week, it really says a lot about those guys in that locker room.Richmond limited N.C. A&Ts star running back Tarik Cohen to 70 yards from scrimmage and forced his first fumble after 528 straight touches without one, and held the Aggies (9-3) to 226 offensive yards while gaining four turnovers. On special teams, Dejon Brissett scored on a 92-yard punt return and Griffin Trau kicked four field goals to tie Richmonds single-game record. The Spiders also took a redshirt off Johnson as he replaced Lauletta, the two-year starter who suffered an ACL tear against William & Mary. Johnson completed 15 of 23 passes for 315 yards, completing the blowout with a 32-yard touchdown pass to Brian Brown in the third quarter and a 7-yard scoring run in the fourth.Weve got a great group of guys who fight for each other every day and thats exactly what this is, Johnson said. Were excited for the opportunities in front of us.Another youngster, redshirt freshman Deontez Thompson, finished with 24 carries for 98 yards and his ninth rushing touchdown. He also caught three passes for 31 yards.N.C. A&T quarterback Oluwafemi Bamiro was a mere 13 of 28 for 87 yards and a touchdown with two interceptions in the defeat, which extended the MEACs playoff losing streak to 20.Cohen entered the season with 1,588 rushing yards and his career with a MEAC-record 5,619 yards. Aduriz headed home Markel Susaetas cross in the sixth minute to open the scoring at San Mames Stadium. He bettered that with a long-range blast that went in off the goal frame in the 18th, and converted a penalty in the 72nd after Diego Mainz was sent off for fouling Aduriz with only the goalkeeper to beat. Aaron Gordon Magic Jersey . In Europe, top teams seem to be largely happy with their squads after spending nearly $1 billion in the off-season. And although English league clubs are unlikely to splash cash in January, Arsenal and Chelsea could be tempted to strengthen their squads with new strikers. Penny Hardaway Magic Jersey . Murray beat Sam Querrey 7-6 (5), 6-7 (3), 6-1, 6-3 to clinch Britains opening-round victory against the United States on Sunday at Petco Park. Last week, we looked at the 10 most accurate passers from the 2015 NFL season using a metric (C%+) that adjusts for where the ball is thrown. Most of the usual suspects made the list, but what about the quarterbacks at the bottom? The bottom three were bad enough that none of these players figure to be a factor in 2016. Nick Foles (minus-6.6 percent) was released and went to Kansas City. Johnny Manziel (minus-4.9 percent) is currently not in the league. Ryan Mallett (minus-4.9 percent) is a backup in Baltimore.Peyton Manning (minus-1.1 percent), who also ranked among the worst, showed it was time to retire after the first below-average season of his career. But that still leaves six quarterbacks in the bottom 10 who figure to be a factor this year. The following is a look at those six quarterbacks, ranked by ascending C%+ from the 2015 regular season.First, here is a refresher on how C%+ is calculated. The core idea is passing plus-minus, which estimates how many passes a quarterback completed compared to what an average quarterback would have completed, given the location of those passes. It does not consider passes listed as thrown away, tipped at line or quarterback hit in motion. Player performance is compared to a historical baseline of how often a pass is completed based on the pass distance, thee yards needed for a first down, and whether it is on the left, middle or right side of the field.ddddddddddddBecause we care only about whether or not the pass was completed with this stat, dropped passes can be accounted for favorably for the quarterback. Once we have the drop-adjusted plus-minus total, it can be divided by the number of passes to get an adjusted rate we denote as C%+.A quarterbacks C%+ is how many percentage points better or worse than average he was at completing passes.1. Colin Kaepernick, San Francisco 49ersC%+: minus-4.4 percentKaepernick started off his career in 2012 with a great C%+ (7.3 percent) in a vertical offense, but he has declined every year since. Always more of a thrower than a precision passer, last season was especially bad as Kaepernick struggled to locate receivers, let alone deliver accurate passes. The most troubling fact was that his average pass distance dropped to 7.7 yards beyond the line of scrimmage after being in the 9.5-9.8 range in the previous three seasons. So even though his passes were shorter, he was worse at completing them. Now you can start to see why he may be benched (again) for Blaine Gabbert in San Francisco. ' ' '
